NOE MARTINEZ, Executive Chef

Born in the State of Michoacan Mexico, Chef Noe Martinez and his parents moved to California when he was 4 years old. He first realized his passion for cooking watching his Mother and Grandmother preparing the succulent dishes in the Mexican tradition. The family moved back to Mexico in 1989 and Noe attended the Culinary Academy of Michoacan where he graduated in 1992.

In 1993, Noe joined the City Club, which was part of the Club Corp. of America, and began to learn his craft.  In 2002, The Puccini Group, headed by Bob Puccini, took over managing the City Club.
 
Under some of the finest Chefs in CCA, Noe had a chance to improve and refine his cooking skills. It was a long journey starting as a Prep Cook and moving to nearly every other position in the kitchen, but under the guidance of his mentor chefs, his passion for creating original and classic
dishes was deepened. In 2000, Noe was promoted to Head Banquet Chef, taking the City Club to a new level in food and service. Noe was promoted again to Sous Chef under Executive Chef Michael Munoz.  Michael encouraged Noe to put his own stamp on the dishes he created, and knew he had found a perfect compliment in the kitchen.In 2005 while still working for City Club, Noe was asked to consult for Rickey's in Novato - another Puccini project. After a few weeks his talent for creating fabulous dishes and also his ability to teach the junior cooks, the Marshall Family who own Rickey’s and Inn Marin, decided to offer Noe the Executive Chef Position. Hard as it was to leave the City Club that has been his home for 11 years, Noe realized that Rickey’s Restaurant & Bar was where he wanted to make a special niche of his own.

The new menu is a great success - a mix of the comfort food which Rickey’s has become known for and a modern eclectic flair with subtle flavors that delight the palate. Noe introduced the new Spring menu in April and continues to delight guests with his menu choices and specials.
 
Outside the restaurant Noe loves to mountain bike, listen to music of all kinds, and of course, cook for his friends and family.
