Chef Harold Solomon has vamped up the flavors at Rickey’s Restaurant! With his 25 years of culinary experience as an Executive Chef within the restaurant/hospitality industry, Harold has given longtime Rickey’s customers a new excitement, with dishes such as Tequila Cured Salmon and freshly crafted Cioppino.
With no formal culinary schooling, Harold was self-taught from the very beginning, learning spices and cuts of meats from mere experience in the kitchen. Chef Harold found his passion in cooking for friends throughout his life. Bringing happiness to people with food is what really sparked his interest in making cooking into a career. Harold’s proclaimed favorite dish is, “What people want. Comfort food.”
Harold started at Follow Your Heart Café in March of 1990, working his way up the culinary industry and eventually being named as Executive Chef at Noonan’s Bar and Grill in May of 2003. Harold continued to impress and expand his work into catering with companies such as Melons Catering and Grapevine Catering. Now as the Executive Chef at Rickey’s Restaurant, Harold leads a team of chefs to turn out artful dishes in the classic Novato restaurant, while seamlessly balancing the task of serving 200 person events a meal to remember.
Harold’s culinary inspirations are Thomas Keller and Jacques Pepin. Growing up, Harold worked to re-create every dish from Pepin’s cookbook. Also like Pepin, Harold is intrigued with building dishes from scratch and sourcing fresh, local ingredients.
We are thrilled to have Chef Harold Solomon as a part of our Inn Marin and Rickey’s Restaurant family and are looking forward to a thriving, tasty future!
